Family Programming: Making Mixed Age Groups Work In-Person

Webinar: Family Programming: Making Mixed Age Groups Work
REGISTER HERE: https://pls-net.org/event/family-programming

Family Programming is a great resource. Family life plays an important role in the development of the literacy skills of its members. Some families prefer multi-generational programming. In some cases, it is not always practical or feasible to create age-specific programs in a given setting. Multigenerational programs offer flexibility in staffing and program offerings as well as opportunities to promote family-based literacy-building skills. Whatever the reason, multigenerational programming is on the rise and relies heavily on a flexible approach and adaptable books, resources, and activities.

In this interactive webinar program, Jill Burket Ragase will give you a variety of tools that you will be able to use to:

• Select books, activities, and storytelling methods that will engage a wide age range of children and their parents.

• Incorporate highly appealing songs, books, movement activities, and other resources that work for group participation

• Incorporate strategies to create and deliver intergenerational programs that allow children to continue learning and skill-building beyond storytime

Jill Burket Ragase is the Literacy Content and Logistics Director for Blue Manatee Literacy Project, a 2019 James Patterson Bookseller of the Year, and a member of the American Bookseller Association’s Education Task Force. She earned her MLS from the University of Kentucky and has worked as both a youth services and collection development librarian. She is also the proud parent of two, yes two sets of boy/girl twins with her husband Mark in Cincinnati, OH. You can find her online at jumbleofjill.com
