STLS Annual Meeting In-Person

Join us for the first ever online annual meeting. Member libraries will vote on 3 STLS trustee seats up for 2021 - 2025 terms and will hear from Keynote Speaker & Special Projects Librarian Margo Gustina, who will discuss the STLS Rural Library Service & Social Well Being Project in partnership with the Institute for Museum & Library Services.

Your Library & Social Wellbeing

Belonging, decision making power, and social connection are the foundations of social wellbeing we observed across the nation. How can your library help build these bedrocks to improve the quality of the services they provide, as well as community outcomes? Margo will share how we came to know what we know about public libraries in rural communities, as well as what big libraries can learn from the little guys. More information on the research and work that got us here can be found at: https://rurallibraries.org. For those interested in getting the full story before the talk, read our pre-print, "Pathways to Wellbeing: Public Libraries in Rural Communities," here: https://osf.io/m9kwu/

Margo Gustina has served the Southern Tier Library System membership since 2014 in a variety of functions, including policy development, facilities and strategic planning, and just plain hanging out. Now living in Santa Fe (NM), Margo is STLS's very first fully remote employee, completing a three-year national research and resource development project to improve social wellbeing outcomes from public library service.
