Bootlegs, Summaries, and Slop: Collection Development in the Age of AI Online

Is the book in your hands real…or unreal? Is that DVD on the shelf authentic or counterfeit? With the proliferation of AI over the last few years, it has become easier than ever to write, rip, and publish unvetted content. What does this mean for public library collections? How can library selectors ensure that they continue to develop high-quality collections in the most responsible manner?

Join staff from the Nassau Library System for a conversation about this shifting, complex, and often frustrating landscape, complete with tips and tricks on spotting AI-generated physical and digital materials, developing policy considerations, and preparing for the future iterations of these types of works.
